“Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6 ESV
Bathe them. Feed them. Clothe them. Hold them. Play with them. Love them. TEACH them.
Not just the ABC’s and 123’s, not just how to say momma and dadda and all the animal sounds… those things are important, but do you know what’s more important? Them knowing about Jesus.
There’s nothing that fills my heart more than my 1 yr old “praying” at dinner time. One day he’ll understand, one day he’ll say Jesus and Amen with such clarity and my heart will flutter!
Teach. Them. Jesus.
Fill their hearts so full with Jesus that they can’t help but ask questions when they can understand. Nolan definitely doesn’t understand yet, but we go to church and pray and read Jesus books show the love of Jesus…everything we can right now, one day he’ll ask and we’ll be there to teach.
My bonus daughter just recently accepted Christ as her Lord and savior and it was so sweet! It happened at VBS so when she got home we had a long talk and made sure she understood what she was doing by her own accord and that her reasons were true and she asked questions and said she was sure and understood. It was such a humbling talk. Her dad and I have been instilling Jesus in our home for a while and wanted her to come to the conclusion she wanted to be saved on her own. We told her from this day forward she is a new creation in Christ. She is no longer just Kylie but Kylie a follower of Jesus!
You teach when they’re young so that one day you can have that very same talk!
You teach them so they will remain on the right path. Well pray they remain on the right path, no one’s perfect and we all stumble.
Motherhood asks a lot of us…we make lots of sacrifices and do lots of things for a lot of different people but nothing will last as long and is as sweet as teaching them about Jesus!
